This afternoon's walk: Walla Crag

a little path winds up the western face of the crag

.. with occasional dizzy glimpses down onto Derwentwater

.... round a rocky corner. Some people told me this is the infamous Lady's Rake

.. but I'm not convinced. It was airy but easy, mainly amongst trees

looking back down the path as it emerges onto the ridge

.. to give a view over Keswick to Skiddaw

.. and over Derwentwater to the northwestern fells

the foot of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake from the summit. Criffel in the far distance

Walla Crag summit cairn with Clough Head and Great Dodd behind

looking south from the summit

looking north along the summit ridge to Lonscale Fell and Blencathra

looking west across Derwentwater from the summit

Blencathra from the north end of the ridge
